2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

James Rodgers, WR, Oregon State

James Rodgers may not be as dynamic of playmaker as his younger brother Jacquizz, but he is a versatile player who is a very dangerous returnman and receiver. As a freshman, the elder Rodgers rushed for 587 yards on top of his 208 receiving yards. After that, he still carried the ball quite a bit, but turned into a dynamic receiver as well. In 2008 he caught 51 passes for 607 yards and four touchdowns and followed it up with 91 receptions for 1,034 yards and nine trips to the end zone in 2009.

At 5-7 and 188 pounds, Rodgers will never be any more than a slot receiver, but he has a lot of value at that position. Adding to his value is his ability to return kicks. Prior to the 2010 campaign, he was already OSU's all-time leader in all-purpose yards and was second among active players. However, Rodgers' senior season was cut short due to a knee injury and he will not return this season.

The injury raises some questions. He could apply for a medical hardship and would likely be able to return to Oregon State for another go at his senior season. If his brother returns to school, that would give the Beavers a great offense and a shot at a Pac-10 title. However, Rodgers' ability to return kicks may make his stock too high to pass up. Yet, he has to get healthy before April or he would probably be a mid-round selection.
