2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Rennie Curran, LB, Georgia

Curran is not your prototypical linebacker; he is one of the smallest of the breed at 5'11' and 225 pounds. Still, what he lacks in size he makes up for in speed and tenacity. Curran runs in the low 4.5s in the 40-yard-dash at the moment, but could really garner the attention of scouts if he can get that under 4.5 by the time the 2010 NFL combine rolls around. It goes without saying that he will encounter some trouble against much bigger offensive linemen at the next level, so he must use his impressive speed to completely avoid blocks, rather than have to shed them. At the college level, Curran has been doing just fine -- and that's an understatement -- in all aspects of the game. The leader of an otherwise awful Georgia defense, Curran almost single-handedly kept the Bulldogs respectable through seven games of the 2009 season. He led the team in solo tackles (39 -- 13 more than anyone else), assists (33 -- 15 more than anyone else), and total tackles (72 -- 29 more than anyone else). Still just a junior, Curran started five games as a freshman in Athens before starting all 13 games as a sophomore. His 115 tackles in 2008 were the most by a Bulldog since 1998. The outside linebacker has plenty of experience even though he still has one year of eligibility remaining, but a return to Georgia for his senior campaign could do him some good. Curran is going to be a weakside linebacker at the next level no matter what, but he needs to add bulk in order to be a real force in the NFL. Plus, he probably does not want to end his UGA career on a down note (team-wise). If he does decide to leave early, look for Curran to go off the board in the late second or early third round.

Prediction: 2nd Round

Rennie is an absolute MONSTER. He is one of the most underrated players in college football. He is a tackling machine. He doesnt have the size but he makes up with his speed. I hope him comes back and plays a Georgia.
