William Beatty Scouting Report
|Height & Weight:||6'6 - 310 lbs.|
2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
William Beatty, OL, Connecticut
Running back Donald Brown got all the headlines, but part of his success on the ground during the 2008 season belongs to Connecticut offensive tackle William Beatty. Beatty spent his entire collegiate career at the left tackle position and even started there for part of his redshirt freshman campaign. His sophomore year ended abruptly five games into the season after he broke his leg, but Beatty got back on track in 2007 and never looked back. At 6-6 and 310 pounds, Beatty has the size to develop into a great tackle in the NFL. In fact, he even has some more room on his frame to add a few pounds if necessary. Beatty's athleticism surprised a lot of people during the Senior Bowl practices and that started moving him quickly up the draft boards. Most consider Beatty the fifth or sixth best offensive tackle prospect in this class and that could put him into the first round. With a few more solid showings before the draft, many teams will really like his potential and consider him right up there with the top tackles in the draft. However, it is more likely that offensive tackles will not fly off the board as quickly as they did last year and Beatty will be an early second round choice.
