DeAngelo Willingham Scouting Report
|Height & Weight:||6'0 - 200 lbs.|
2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
DeAngelo Willingham, CB, Tennessee
Willingham had a solid 2008 campaign in his first full season as a starter at Tennessee. He started off especially strong at the cornerback position but got picked on by Alabama and big wideout Julio Jones. Willingham still lacks some big-game experience, but he has no time for anything more in college, as he is a senior and will have to test the NFL Draft waters in April. He played two years as a JUCO standout before transferring to Tennessee, where he took over a starting role in the secondary late in 2007. Willingham probably needs about two seasons learning on the NFL sidelines before being able to make an impact, but he definitely has a chance to do just that if he works hard as a backup. After all, Willingham has all the tools. He has good size at 6'0 and 200 pounds, and he can run around 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. A hard hitter, Willingham could make a move to safety at the next level. If he is going to stay at cornerback, he needs to improve his technique and really hone his coverage skills. At the moment he looks like a fourth or fifth-round pick, but there's a good chance he will improve his stock at the upcoming combine.
