2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Chris Harrington, DE, Texas A&M

Harrington had a great junior season for the Aggies, posting 59 total tackles (30 solo, 29 assists), 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and two forced fumbles in 13 games and he was named as a first-team All-Big 12 honoree. His numbers fell off a little in his senior season, but he has good numbers heading into the Alamo Bowl - as he has posted 49 tackles (21 solo, 28 assists), six tackles for loss, and two sacks (earning a spot on the All-Big 12 second team). He also has two fumbles forced, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked kick. In 48 career games, Harrington has 147 tackles (74 solo, 73 assists), 26 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, eight QB hurries, six pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries. Judging by those numbers, Harrington's strength is rushing the quarterback, but he's an active player overall - with impressive overall tackle totals for an end. As he's shown in college, his size will be an asset not only for knocking down passes and disrupting the QB's line of sight, but also to block kicks. Harrington had a shoulder injury that hampered him throughout 2006, but he showed his toughness by not only playing through the pain, but excelling. He had rotator cuff surgery in the offseason, so that issue is behind him. Harrington is being projected to go in the third or fourth round, but he has been projected as high as the second round according to; so he could either be celebrating early or have to endure a sleepless night and wait until the second day to find out his future destination. Update (12/30/07): Harrington bookended his senior season with nine-tackle performances, as he recorded nine tackles (one solo, eight assists), including one tackle for loss, in Texas A&M's 24-17 loss to Penn State in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday night. Harrington finished his senior season with 58 tackles (22 solo, 36 assists), seven tackles for loss, and two sacks, and four QB hurries, to go with two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one blocked kick, and one pass breakup.
