Mewhort is a big, hulking prospect likely to fit somewhere on the right side. He has an ideal frame for the position and was one of Ohio State's emotional senior leaders last season. Better run blocker than pass protector. Gets outside quickly and can set the edge. Susceptible to outside-inside moves. Re-directs defenders well and finishes plays to the whistle. Good knee bend, rarely lunges or waist bends. Good technique with lots of experience at both tackle and guard positions. Long arms with inconsistent hand placement. Needs to be a little more aggressive at the point of attack every single play. Pad leverage is usually good. Drives well through his base as a run blocker. Rarely juggles it. Too many passes caught against his body. Could play with a little more physicality, especially against 50-50 passes. Really good concentration in traffic. Quick accelerator. Doesn't offer a lot after the catch, but he does reliably come down with it. Effort is hit or miss. Needs to play with a chip as a run blocker. Doesn't fight hard enough for extra yardage. A beat too slow when stopping-starting on double moves. Upper body strength is lacking. Relies a lot on his lower body strength. Not naturally evasive. Moncrief projects as a la... [Read More]
