After a quiet junior year, Gilbert rebounded nicely in 2013 for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. For a program better known for its offense, he was the clear team leader and highlight-maker on special teams. He finished tied for fourth in the nation with six INTs. Gilbert has above-average height for a corner and displays nice fluidity in his lower half. Acknowledged that his focus took a step back after a lackluster junior season and admitted he had something to prove as a senior. Long arms. Above-average ability to turn and quickly locate the ball. Good instincts. Vulnerable to double moves given his aggressive, ball-hawking style of play. Quick to read and react. Not much wasted motion/steps when changing directions. Seems to prefer to play press and doesn't mind arm fighting downfield. Pretty straight line speed (4.5 40). Physical tackler. Sheds blocks with ease. Must improve discipline when setting the edge. Gilbert projects as an early first round pick, possibly the first corner taken in the 2014 NFL Draft.... [Read More]
Manziel's skill set translated well in college, but how will it play out in the NFL? If he opts to declare for the 2014 NFL Draft, there will be countless discussions about if he will go in the first round, which teams are interested and many other things that have nothing to do with his unique talents. His sophomore campaign did not go as smoothly with off-field issues during the offseason and a couple tough losses to close the year. Manziel lacks ideal height and arm strength. Very thin for his size and needs to add bulk to handle all the hits he will take. Took a lot of shots in college. Elite mobility and top end speed for a quarterback. Footwork, release, accuracy and technique are all serious problems. Relies heavily on improvisation and will need an offense to cater their entire plan to his style. Throws a few too many balls up for grabs. Puts good velocity on throws even when on the move. Appears to be a great team leader. Noted for having a laid-back attitude on and off the field. Relies heavily ... [Read More]
A "work harder than you" competitor with surprising athleticism, Bitonio is a fast riser in scouting circles after a great combine and good tape. Ideal height, weight, but less than ideal length. Some teams see him as a tackle and others see a guard. That versatility will benefit him regardless. High passion player who plays hard through the whistle. Could slim up a bit through his core and keep his strength. Short arms may push him into an interior lineman role. Sets edge quickly. Good, sharp feet. Mirrors well enough. Pad level is erratic and not enough overall strength to correct poor positioning. Power is average. Not the type to really move the pile forward. Good vision and awareness in pre-snap reads. Quick adjustments made during the play. Likely a better fit for a zone-read blocking scheme. Excellent effort and looks to wear down his opponent. Bitonio projects as a second rounder in the 2014 NFL Draft.... [Read More]
