Centers rarely push for first round attention; and if they do, it is only one per year. That said, Konz' stock is on the rise and he will certainly contend to be that player in 2012. Konz has great size for a center and uses all of his 315 pounds to his advantage. Whether he is in pass protection, making calls along the line, or bum-rushing defensive linemen as a run blocker, there aren't many holes in his game. Wisconsin has produced a ton of great offensive line prospects over the years and Konz is another prospect who will fulfill that tradition if he opts to enter the draft this year. When the Badgers played Michigan State, he played very well against fellow 2012 NFL Draft defensive tackle prospect Jerel Worthy. Depending upon the statistician, Konz pancaked him as well. Those games against comparable NFL talent are what scouts really like to watch and from that film alone, he should be able to impress. Konz does an excellent job of finding any blitzing linebackers, releasing from a double-team and sliding into position to make a block. His run blocking is great and if need be, he could fill-in at guard for most NFL teams. Konz does well to find the middle linebacker on e... [Read More]
Southern Miss offensive tackle prospect Lamar Holmes is a raw prospect who only began playing football as a junior in high school. With limited experience playing left tackle, there is a higher ceiling to his game (although for now he is considered to be a middle round prospect). Some question his feet, but technique can be cleaned up (especially for players with limited experience like Holmes). Holmes' strengths are as a pass blocker. He gets off the line well, but needs to learn how to play to the whistle. Needs to play with a better knee bend and not get his weight too far out front. Inconsistent drive blocker that will need to bulk up in his lower half. Holmes' long arms are likely a big part of his appeal to the Falcons. Being able to initiate contact and keep defenders at arm's length can negate a pass rusher. Holmes possesses solid athleticism and a frame that can add some strength. For a third round selection, he will likely compete for time at right tackle immediately and could potentially move to left tackle if things go smoothly.... [Read More]

Jonathan Massaquoi was a surprise late addition to the record-setting 65 underclassmen to declare early for the 2012 NFL Draft. Massaquoi had a solid junior year, but remains relatively under the clock. Part of his decision may have to do with the fact that he is 24 years old. Massaquoi was a standout for Troy and looks like he will transition to 3-4 outside. With his big bulk, he's able to overpower blockers at the line. He lacks elite speed, but flashes a nice quick burst off the line. He's typically looking to collapse the pocket and back his man into the quarterback. Massaquoi uses his leverage well and gets his pad level low to move his man. He's an able tackler who can too often look for the big hit. He's a project since he spent the majority of his collegiate career at defensive end. It is going to be a big transition (especially when he's asked to learn coverages), but he has fluid hips that show some promise. His football IQ doesn't stand out to me because he's not that great in pursuit, but he'll need to be the type of player who simply outworks and plays with hustle to be a regular contributor in the NFL....
