Golf Rankings for Valero Texas Open

1. Charl Schwartzel [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #19

In three stroke play events while on Tour, Schwartzel finished T3 at Riviera, T9 in the Honda and T16 at Doral. His most recent outing was T4 in the Malaysian Open, an event shared by the European and Asian Tours. Schwartzel has never played TPC San Antonio, but is playing so well right now he’s easily a top-shelf selection.

2. Rory McIlroy [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #3

McIlroy is a first timer at TPC San Antonio and is coming off a disappointing T45 last week at Redstone. However, he’s very focused on using this event as a final tune-up for the Masters and could take advantage of this limited field. Despite the ups and downs in limited action this season, McIlroy is sure to be among the most rostered players this week and should at least be on the bench.

3. Matt Kuchar [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #15

Kuchar struggled quite a bit during this event until it was relocated to TPC San Antonio. Although he passed it over in 2010 and 2011, Kuchar put up a T13 last year. In addition to winning the match play championship, Kuchar has played half a dozen stroke play events this season, finishing outside of the top 20 just twice.

4. Henrik Stenson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #7 - Not Entered

Stenson will look to stay hot for the third straight week. After finishing T8 at Bay Hill, Stenson finished with a share of second last week at Redstone to secure a spot in the Masters. He’s another first timer at TPC San Antonio that is likely to compete for a spot atop the leaderboard.

5. Fredrik Jacobson [Yahoo Class C]

Jacobson has played this event each of the last three years since it was moved to TPC San Antonio. He finished solo second in 2010, T5 in 2011 and T18 last year. Jacobson has recorded four straight top-25 finishes in stroke play events this season and now ranks second in scoring average.

6. Jimmy Walker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #36

A poor third round at Redstone ruined an otherwise sound performance for Walker last week. He's played TPC San Antonio each of the last three years, finishing T3 in 2010 prior to missing two straight cuts. However, Walker has made all nine cuts this season, totaling a pair of top-fives and seven top-30 finishes.

7. Cameron Tringale [Yahoo Class B]

Tringale has only missed two cuts in eight events this season and is coming off a T16 at Redstone, his sixth top-30 finish. He's played TPC San Antonio all three times, finishing T8 and T5 the last two years.

8. Brendan Steele [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #52

Even though Steele owns just two top-35 finishes in eight starts this season, he’s been very sharp at TPC San Antonio. Steele won this event in his 2011 debut and came back with a T4 last year.

9. Brendon de Jonge [Yahoo Class C]

In 11 events this season, de Jonge has notched four top-15s and is coming off a T10 last week at Redstone. He’s played TPC San Antonio the last two years with mixed results. De Jonge currently ranks fifth in total driving and 10th in All-Around Rankings.

10. Charley Hoffman [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #49

After starting the season off with a T10, Hoffman placed outside of the top 30 in five straight events with two missed cuts until a T20 last week at Redstone. Hoffman has played this event seven consecutive years, finishing T13, T2 and T13 at TPC San Antonio.

11. Jordan Spieth [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #6

Spieth, the 19-year-old golf phenom, had finished T2 in the Puerto Rico Open and T7 at Copperhead until a disappointing T50 last week at Redstone. Spieth played TPC San Antonio last year, finishing T41. As a lower-tier player in most formats, Spieth will likely come at a great value this week.

12. Ian Poulter [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #84

In two March starts, Poulter was a mediocre player with finishes of T28 at Doral and T21 at Bay Hill. He’s heading to TPC San Antonio for the first time.
