Expert Picks for Transitions Championship

13. Jason Day [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #4

Any time Day is in the mix these days we want him in the rankings, but his ability to go long and chase this lengthy challenge at Innisbrook leads us to believe his improved game will shine this week. He lacks positive history here but he’s been undeniably strong over the bulk of the last year.

14. Justin Leonard [Yahoo Class C]

We have implied a lean against Leonard based on failing returns over the last three seasons but this is one course where the veteran statesman makes sense. He has enjoyed top performance in Tampa throughout his career.

15. John Senden [Yahoo Class B]

Senden is one of several second-tier options we’ll list this week based not only on a somewhat limited field but also based on long-standing performance on the historic Innisbrook Copperhead track. Senden knows it and loves it, so keep him close to your heart (and roster).

16. Padraig Harrington [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #163

We find it hard to count on Padraig for fantasy value these days with continued struggles for consistency, but this is one track he has enjoyed over recent campaigns and he is due for another rise from the shadows.

17. Alvaro Quiros [Yahoo Class B] - Not Entered

Quiros was one of the bigger disappointments last week at the WGC Cadillac Championship but his long-hitting ways could be of definitive benefit this week. He continues to push for a place on the PGA Tour and we like his chances to shine through at some point this season.

18. Jonathan Byrd [Yahoo Class C]

Byrd comes off a strong finish at the WGC Cadillac Championship, he’s a player we’ve come to love when we find several members of the game’s elite in the field, and his history at the links of Innisbrook is rather impressive.

19. Zach Johnson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #69

ZJ has yet to show his true colors this season but we have to get him on the list due to talent and ability. He lacks noteworthy history on this track (with negative results in several stops this way) but he’s as skilled as any other golfer this low on the list.

20. Vijay Singh [Yahoo Class C]

We’ve seen some ups and some downs from Singh already this season but this particular course could bring him back to the forefront on the final leaderboard. He’s posted more than his fair share of low rounds on this track over his PGA history.

21. Brendon de Jonge [Yahoo Class C]

The rise of another South African golfer has given fantasy owners another solid option for most fantasy rosters, coming through with a positive body of work (again) last week in Puerto Rico. He has more than enough game to battle with the best in this field.

22. Ryan Moore [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #45

Any time the track gets long we look towards the younger set taking over professional golf, and we know few who can go as deep as Ryan Moore coming off the tee. He has the talent to finish strong if he can stay in the mix early.

23. Ryo Ishikawa [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #155

We’ve been waiting for Ishikawa to get his rocks off on the game’s highest level and he showed flashes of that potential last week at Doral. This course will favor his long-swinging ways and should open a new avenue of hope for fans anxious to see this young duffer compete.

24. Charlie Wi [Yahoo Class C]

Wi is a seasoned vet with tons of experience on this Innisbrook track. Over recent seasons he has been especially potent, giving us reason to believe a top 20 finish could certainly be in order for the Transitions.
