Golf Rankings for Wells Fargo Championship

13. Kevin Na [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #64

This week will be Na’s first start since withdrawing from the Valero Texas Open after the first round of play due to discomfort in his back. The South Korean had been playing well with three straight top-12 finishes. Na has a great opportunity to pick up where he left off as he finished a career-best solo fifth at Quail Hollow last year and T14 in 2010.

14. Carl Pettersson [Yahoo Class C]

Coming off a solo second at Redstone and a win at Harbour Town, Pettersson was an automatic pick last week at TPC Louisiana but missed the cut. The Swede landed a T9 at Quail Hollow last year, so a quick turnaround is very likely.

15. John Huh [Yahoo Class B]

After topping a limited field at the Mayakoba Golf Classic, Huh added just one top-15 in his next five events until scoring a share of second at the Valero Texas Open. The rookie ranks 19th in scoring average and 12th in All-Around Ranking.

16. Bill Haas [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #39

Since winning at Riviera, Haas has yet to record a top-25 finish in four straight events and missed his first cut of the season at Harbour Town, his most recent start. Last year’s solo fourth at Quail Hollow was a career-best for Haas, giving him four straight top-30s at the site. The defending FedExCup champ is not playing his best right now, but is certainly a worthy middle-tier selection to select from.

17. Jason Day [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #4

An ankle injury caused Day to withdraw from the second round of the Masters while he sat 5 over for the tournament. The Australian plans to return to action at Quail Hollow this week where he finished T22 in 2010, his lone career start at the site. Day had finished 20th in two straight events prior to his early exit at Augusta.

18. Ryan Moore [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #45

If not for an abysmal third round at Redstone, Moore might own a streak of three straight top-10s right now. Prior to finishing T33 at Quail Hollow a year ago, he missed three straight cuts at the site.

19. Chris Stroud [Yahoo Class C]

While he doesn't have any strong finishes at Quail Hollow, Stroud has made three straight cuts at the site. He's also collected five top-25 finishes in his last six events with two top-10s.

20. Henrik Stenson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #7

Before missing the cut at Harbour Town and a poor final round at the Masters, Stenson has recorded four straight finishes of 21st or better this season and currently ranks 17th in scoring average. The Swede missed the cut at Quail Hollow last year, his first start at the site since 2007.

21. Ben Curtis [Yahoo Class C]

After winning on Tour for the first time since 2006, Curtis finished T13 last week at TPC Louisiana. While he’s missed two straight cuts at Quail Hollow, Curtis owns a solo second from 2008.

22. Robert Garrigus [Yahoo Class B]

Consider Garrigus a boom or bust option. In 10 starts he’s missed four cuts, but earned a share of second on two occasions. Garrigus is coming off a T13 at Harbour Town and finished T9 at Quail Hollow last year.

23. Jonathan Byrd [Yahoo Class C]

If you decide to gamble on Byrd it is based on his history at Quail Hollow, not what he’s been doing this season. Byrd finished with a solo second at the site last year and T5 in 2009, but missed the cut in 2010. Byrd is coming off a respectable T27 at the Masters, but has missed three cuts in eight stroke play events.

24. Nick Watney [Yahoo Class C]

After ending the 2011 regular season atop the FedExCup standings, Watney struggled in the final three playoff events and has seen his woes continue into 2012. Last week could have been rock bottom as Watney missed his first cut of the season after finishing outside of the top 50 in two of three events prior to that. Watney missed the cut at Quail Hollow last year, but had been pretty good at the site with five top-25s in six previous starts.
