Expert Picks for RBC Canadian Open

25. Stephen Ames [Yahoo Class C]

A Canadian by way of a marriage, Ames is the top-rated Canadian in the Official World Golf Rankings. In March, he finished T3 against a watered-down field in the Puerto Rico Open and T8 last month in the FedEx St. Jude Classic. At Shaughnessy in 2005, Ames finished T7 and could be the best hope Canada has of reclaiming this event.

26. David Hearn [Yahoo Class C]

Among the Canadians in this week's field, Hearn ranks second in the Official World Golf Rankings. Earlier in the year, he finished a career-best T6 in the Shell Houston Open and has made each of his last five cuts. Hearn is certainly a long shot but one of the limited Canadian-born players capable of defending their home turf.

27. Adam Hadwin [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #53

Currently eighth in the Canadian Tour standings, and coming off a seventh-place result at the Canadian Tour Players Cup, Hadwin is a 23-year-old golfer that could surprise in his native land. Back in March, he won the Pacific Colombia Tour Championship, his second career win on the Canadian Tour. Hadwin finished T39 in this year's U.S. Open and T37 in last year's Canadian Open, his first starts in either event.

28. Bob Estes [Yahoo Class C]

With four consecutive missed cuts this season, Estes clearly carries a ton of risk. However, his performances in this tournament warrant some attention. Since 1999, Estes owns seven top-15s in 10 starts. Over the last three years, he's improved his finish from T14 to T8 to T4. While it's a major roll of the dice, there’s something Estes seems to enjoy about the Great White North.

29. Sung-hoon Kang

In his last two Tour events, Kang has finished T12 at the John Deere and T7 at the Viking Classic. He's never competed in the Canadian Open, but clearly owns some momentum after missing six of his prior eight cuts. The South Korean currently ranks first on Tour in eagles per hole, but is also outside of the top-100 in nearly every other major category.

30. Tom Pernice, Jr.

Since 2003, Pernice has four top-15 finishes (including one in 2005 at Shaughnessy) in the Canadian Open. He's only competed in five Tour events this season, most recently finishing with a share of second-place at the Viking Classic. Pernice has a dozen starts this season on the Champions Tour, where he currently ranks 10th in birdie average and 13th in scoring average.
