Daily Fantasy Golf Picks – WGC Cadillac Championship - DraftKings #DFG

By now you've heard all the craze about DraftKings right? Daily Fantasy Sports is exploding and we had a blast with Football this year here at Toolbox, but did you know that you can now enjoy rooting for your favorite golfers like never before? The gatherings at the water cooler has never been more fun! It's time for me (and you) to take the plunge into Daily Fantasy Golf! Let's do it together this year.

The concept is simple. Each golfer is assigned a Salary and you have to pick a 6 man squad under a salary cap.

The slick website does all the math for you so if you pick a team that is over the cap, it will alert you so you can remove the player and add in a cheaper option.

Let's get right to it, my TOP VALUES, STEALS and OVERPRICED golfers are below.

Keegan Bradley $9,800

Slightly underwhelming so far in 2014 but has been a top-20 machine. Finished solo seventh and T8 in his two starts at Doral. Same price as Phil Mickelson, but not as risky.

Matt Kuchar $9,400

Missed the cut at Riviera after starting the season with a pair of top-10s in Hawaii. Only managed a T35 at Doral last year but finished T8, solo fifth and T3 the three previous seasons.

Graeme McDowell $8,600

Finishes of 13th or better in three of the last four at Doral, including a career-best T3 last year. Disappointed last week at the Honda Classic but was stout in match play and at Pebble Beach.

Charl Schwartzel $8,200

Looked sharp at Riviera but missed last week's cut. He hasn't finished outside of the top 25 at Doral over the last four years while registering a pair of top-fives.

George Coetzee $5,900

Opened 2014 with three top-fives on the European Tour, playing a stroke play event for the first time this year in the states. Was challenging for a top-25 at Doral last season until shooting an 80 on Sunday. This tournament does not have a cut; nothing but upside at this price-- sixth cheapest this week.

Zach Johnson $10,100

Lots of experience at Doral but has finished outside of the top 30 four of the last five years. Began the year on fire but is coming off a first round defeat in match play and a T33 at the Honda.

Jason Day $10,000

Risky, all-or-nothing play. Hasn't finished inside the top 20 in three career Doral starts. Struggled at Pebble following a T2 at Torrey Pines, most recently won Match Play Challenge.

My Team ($50,000 budget)

  • Bubba Watson $10,100
  • Matt Kuchar $9,400
  • Graeme McDowell $8,600
  • Charl Schwartzel $8,200
  • Francesco Molinari $7,700
  • George Coetzee $5,900
  • Remaining salary: $100.00

Honda Classic Results

  • Adam Scott $9,700 (79.5 points)
  • Sergio Garcia $9,000 (72.5)
  • Keegan Bradley $8,900 (72)
  • Graeme McDowell $8,900 (63.5)
  • Michael Thompson $6,700 (21)
  • Fredrik Jacobson $6,500 (64)

Total Fantasy Points: 372.5

Finished 75th out of 443 entries in the PGA $2K Par 5 game. Four of my six players placed 12th or better. Got some decent production out of my cheapest player, but Thompson's missed cut weighed down an otherwise solid lineup.
