Week 8: Sleepers of the Week

These lesser-known players deserve to start this week due to matchup or other circumstances. This week's picks include Matt Cassel, Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco, Montario Hardesty, and Maurice Morris.

Bernard Scott and the Cincinnati Bengals travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks in week eight. Scott has not rushed for more than 29 yards in a game this season, but with Cedric Benson suspended for this week's game, Scott should set a season high in rushes and rushing yards. Scott will handle the early down work for the Bengals with Brian Leonard chipping in on passing downs with Benson out this week. Scott has long been spoken about in fantasy circles as someone who would have value if given an opportunity to play more, so this will be his chance to prove his worth to the Bengals and to fantasy owners. Fantasy owners can start Bernard Scott as a flex option this week and can expect at least 70 total yards and one touchdown.

Michael Crabtree and the San Francisco 49ers return from the bye week to take on the Cleveland Browns at home in week eight. Crabtree is coming off his best game of the season in which he caught nine passes for 77 yards in a week six win over the Detroit Lions. Crabtree was targeted 15 times as Alex Smith looked to feed him the ball early and often with injuries to Josh Morgan and Braylon Edwards hindering the 49ers pass offense. Edwards may return to action this week, but Crabtree will continue to be targeted many more times than any other 49ers wide receiver. The Browns defense has been difficult to throw against this season, but with Alex Smith looking to get the ball to Crabtree at any cost, he will be a good play in fantasy leagues this week (especially in point per reception leagues). Fantasy owners can expect Michael Crabtree to catch six passes for 70 yards and a touchdown this week against the Browns secondary.
