Week 6: Injury Update

We let you know the playing chances of the big name players who were injured last week. This week's picks include Joseph Addai, LeGarrette Blount, Tim Hightower, Brandon Jacobs, and Daniel Thomas.

Austin has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, but has returned to practice and appears likely to start when the Cowboys host New England in what figures to be a Texas shootout. The 6th year WR has the highest fantasy PPG average over his two games this season as he's amassed 14 catches for 233 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Monmouth alum is a solid WR1 and a great buy low candidate if his owner is frustrated by the injury. He's averaged 1,100+ yards over the past two seasons while hauling in 19 TDs. Tony Romo also makes for a solid buy low candidate as Dez Bryant and Miles Austin should be close to 100% this week.

AJ's hamstring injury will keep him out this week and the fact that the Texans traded for veteran Derrick Mason (formerly of the Jets) could be a sign that Johnson could miss multiple weeks. With Johnson sidelined for the week 5 loss to Oakland, the Texans' TEs stepped up and led the team in receiving. Owen Daniels had 7 catches for 89 yards, while backup TE Joel Dressen had 5 catches for 112 yards -- including a crucial last minute grab that put the Texans in scoring range (Schaub ultimately tossed an INT to lose the game). Hot waiver wire commodity Jacoby Jones failed to impress as he finished with 1 catch for 9 yards, but Kevin Walter showed signs of life hauling in 5 catches for 81 yards and a TD. In week 6, the Texans travel to face Baltimore's 8th ranked pass defense.

Through five games the rookie from Alabama has flashed the skills that led the Falcons to give up a king's ransom in order to move up in April's draft. He's averaging 71 YPG, but has yet to find the end zone. In the week 5 Sunday night loss to Green Bay JJ came up lame late in the 3rd quarter with a hamstring injury. Jones posted back to back 100 yard performances in weeks 3/4, but was held to one catch for 16 yards against Green Bay. Jones missed Wednesday's practice and appears very questionable to suit up when Atlanta hosts Carolina in week 6. Harry Douglas will likely start opposite Roddy White if Jones is ruled out and could be a decent WR3 in what figures to be a high scoring game against Cam Newton and the Panthers in the Georgia dome.
