2011 Team Outlook: Cincinnati
WR Andre Caldwell, --- - Not Draft Worthy
Andre Caldwell will fight for a role in the Bengals offense when training camp opens. He has an uphill battle to overtake either Jerome Simpson or A.J. Green, and unless he can make his way into the starting lineup, he is unlikely to make much of an impact in fantasy leagues. Andre Caldwell should not be on the fantasy radar right now.
WR Jordan Shipley, --- - Deep-league Only
Jordan Shipley should enter the 2011 season as the Bengals' slot receiver. Shipley played relatively well as a rookie, catching 52 passes for 600 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games. Shipley did secure himself as the Bengals' slot receiver of the future, showing no qualms about making tough catches over the middle of the field. While the lack of an experienced quarterback may hurt the rest of the Bengals wide receivers, Shipley could benefit from a young quarterback who looks to check down over the middle in tough situations. Fantasy owners in deep leagues and point per reception leagues should look at Shipley as a bench player this season.
WR Jerome Simpson, --- - Super Sleeper (high risk/potential)
Following two breakout games to end the 2010 season, Jerome Simpson should secure a spot in the Bengals starting lineup heading into the 2011 season. After not catching a pass until a two catch effort in week 15, Simpson broke out with 18 catches for 247 yards and three touchdowns in the final two weeks of the 2011 season. Simpson should start opposite A.J. Green, but his potential is limited by the current uncertainty of the Bengals quarterback situation. Simpson has sleeper potential if the Bengals can get steady play from the quarterback position.
TE Jermaine Gresham, ARI - Quality Backup
Jermaine Gresham will enter his second NFL season as the Cincinnati Bengals' starting tight end. Gresham had a solid rookie season, catching 52 passes for 471 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games. Gresham should take a step forward this season, and like Jordan Shipley, could benefit from a young quarterback who likes to check down in tough situations. The uncertainty of the rest of the Bengals offense makes Gresham no more than a low end fantasy starter at the tight end position to start the season, but he could make his way into the top ten as the season moves along.Injury Status: Doubtful - Achilles
