2013 Team Outlook: Denver Broncos
WR Eric Decker, TEN - Solid/Safe Pick
I think Decker is a solid fantasy pick this season. He has one season with Manning throwing his direction under his belt and shoud be able to continue their end of the season momentum into this campaign. The only thing to watch would be some additional spread of the ball with the addition of Welker.
WR Andre Caldwell, --- - Deep-league Only
Caldwell becomes a guy who drops a bit on the depth chart with the addition of Wes Welker. Caldwell has potential, but might not find his way into as many schemes. He did not do too much last season, but has tremendous speed. Look to see how he fits into Denver's deep receiving core.
WR Wes Welker, --- - Stud (low risk)
Wes Welker is a fantasy stud and this will continue in Denver. His addition to the team will allow Manning additional passing options, especially in the slot and on cross routes. I think this new relationship will be reminiscent of the Manning-Stokley early days. Welker's position should allow him to put up solid fantasy stats and you should grab him when you can in your draft.
Update 8/23/13 - Welker suffered an ankle injury, but should be back in action for Week 1.
TE Joel Dreessen, --- - Deep-league Only
Dreessen receives close to the same classification as Tamme, but should only be drafted in deep leagues. These guys are competing for targets and touchdowns. If they continue their TE work as a tandem, then neither have significant fantasy value in my book on a weekly basis.
Update 8/23/13 - Dreessen recently had his knee scoped again. It appears he will be ready to play again soon. He is a deep-league only player and is not likely to go in most drafts.
TE Jacob Tamme, --- - Bye Week Fill-in
I am going to call Tamme a bye week fill-in / back-up TE simply bacause his 52 receptions for 2 TDs and Joel Dressen's 41 receptions for 5 TDs are too close for comfort. Tamme and Dressen are great targets for Manning, but if one does not outshine the other, both are hard to throw into the fantasy mix.
TE Julius Thomas, --- - Solid/Safe Pick
Thomas has surprised in pre-season and led the team with receptions and yardage. He looks to move above Tamme and Dressen on the depth chart. Thomas is ranked No. 21 TE, but with Peyton Manning as his QB, could be valuable if the chemistry continues. Definitely a draft-day steal here.
