Week 12: PPR Watch

We profile players that will be difference makers in your PPR league this week. This week's picks include Kevin Smith, Jermaine Gresham, Earl Bennett, Toby Gerhart, and C.J. Spiller.

Avoid - Gaffney's had a nice run over the past few weeks, catching 14 passes for 192 yards and 2 TDs in the last 3 games. Still, this avoid is a pretty obvious one. Gaffney's value is almost entirely based on the absence of Moss, who barring a setback should return this week. It's a situation to be monitored. If Moss doesn't play, a case could be made for Gaffney, but the match-up against Seattle isn't very good at all. First, the game is in Seattle, where even good offenses tend to struggle with the crowd noise. Second, the Seahawks have been a surprisingly good defense this year, and while most of the focus has been on their run defense, over the past 5 games they've allowed the 6th fewest points to wide receivers as well. Tight Ends eat them alive, so it could be a big day for Fred Davis, but it's hard to imagine a scenario where Gaffney goes off. Find a way to sit him.

Sleeper - By this point in the season, there's really not that many guys out there that you don't already know about, or I haven't already covered. So when one comes around, even if it's a stretchhhhhhh it's worth mentioning. Cooper's value is obviously based around either Maclin or Jackson not playing (read: if they both start don't play him), but since it seems likely that at least one of them will be missing this week, he might be a hot hand worth riding. Riley had 12 targets against the Giants, and while he only caught 5 of them, he did manage 75 yards and a score. Hopefully with the bye weeks over, and a deep bench, you don't need a guy like Riley and can safely ignore. But just in case you're injury riddled and one week desperate, Cooper is probably sitting on your free agent list and is worth an add in deep deep leagues.
