Week 11: Player Downgrades

The players whose long-term value is falling and, depending on league size, should be traded, benched or even cut. This week's picks include Matthew Stafford, Michael Bush, Beanie Wells, Doug Baldwin, and Calvin Johnson.

The Eagles are likely to be without the services of starting QB Michael Vick because of a rib injury. Maclin was unable to pop off any big plays in Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals. Maclin has been mostly reliable through the year, but it's going to be near-impossible for him to keep this pace going if Vince Young is the starter. To make matters worse, Maclin is a Top 10 receiver. Replacing someone of his caliber isn't easy (although it can be done). Just take a look at what recent waiver wire addition Laurent Robinson did with the Dallas Cowboys. Maclin owners are going to have to hope that Vick is able to play through his rib injury.

Brent Celek has strung together some improved games in the last month since starting the season ice cold. He scored in back-to-back games in Week 6 & 8 (Week 7 bye). Celek then followed that up with 11 receptions for 113 yards in two games. Not bad for a backup tight end for most fantasy rosters. The problem is that with this rib injury to Michael Vick, it's all out the window. Nearly every Eagles' player is in trouble if Vick is unable to play for a game or two. Earlier in the season, Tony Romo was able to play through a serious rib injury but the obvious difference here is that Vick takes off to run and exposes himself to contact far more often than other traditional quarterbacks. If Vick cannot play, fringe fantasy players like Celek lose most of their appeal.
